It is a compliment!  Generally when a new feature was added in the past, it was in direct response to a user request for something specific and that is how it was designed.  And then creative users come along and take advantage of the new feature to do something a little different.

My edit flow was changed because I could not get the OpenEDL to work in the
way that was described by creating subprojects and using a Reference EDL in
the main project. That works quite nicely, and gives separation of
concerns. Yes, it would be nice to switch between these projects without
closing the main project...
OpenEDL section in the manual needs to be better written and I am "secretly" hoping that Igor will review it and fix what is stated wrong because it looks like I wrote that original section and as things came up, just shoved in changes.  I am sure Andrea added some improvements.

"Wrong" can just mean "unexpected" --  I do this all the time.
