I wish I had knowledge to help you with this issue. The only thing I know of Flatpak is that all users use the same build independent of the Linux distribution they use.

We should make a call on github to see if a programmer can guide us and help us with this issue.

I am still trying to understand appimage and flatpak usage but as far as I can tell, it only makes it easier for the user. The developer/programmer still has to create the runtime.
