I read first about LibreOffice as AppImage portable application Linux format. Yeas, we already happy to have Cinelerra-GG in many stable distributions native package formats, but just wonder if a Cinelerra AppImange portable format would be beneficial for portable and generic testing, use or demonstrations on other/generic (rolling) releases? Background and references: AppImage is a portable application format for Linux that allows users to run applications on rolling (e.g. Arch, openSUSE Tumbleweed) and stable (e.g. Ubuntu LTS, CentOS) Linux distributions very easily, without the need for installation or worry of dependencies. AppImages bundle all the files needed for an application to run (e.g. libraries, translations, icons, fonts) that may not already be present on a user's system. LibreOffice AppImage is a portable version of LibreOffice for Linux that can be run from any location (e.g. local drive, USB, CD, network share) on all popular Linux distributions, including their live CDs. LibreOffice AppImage is available in three versions - Basic, Standard, and Full - which support a different set of languages. https://www.libreoffice.org/download/appimage/ Today, you can test or use LibreOffice in your Gnu/Linux distribution without the need of going through the installation process. How? With AppImage, a format for distributing portable software on Linux without the need of superuser permissions to install the application. https://libreoffice.soluzioniopen.com/ https://appimage.org/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AppImage https://itsfoss.com/use-appimage-linux/ https://www.linuxuprising.com/2018/04/easily-run-and-integrate-appimage-file... https://www.techrepublic.com/article/how-to-run-appimages-on-linux/ ------------ Any experiences about the AppImage format?
