Tested on Ubuntu 16 and "seems" to work when I rendered with format av1_aom.webm, which is the only format besides avif.avif that "I think" uses libaom per the first line that reads "webm libaom-av1". So I checked it into GIT. The output rendered file appears correct in comparison to the input video. More testing by others might turn up a problem, but we can always back it out. I am not sure if switching it to nasm in general good or bad idea.
We can add this patch next month, if you want to test it more
