Hi everyone,

Regarding VAAPI outside of CinGG:

I have just run a couple of successful h264_vaapi and hevc_vaapi transcoding tests on my Aorus Gigabyte workstation featuring an Intel Core i7-12700KF and an Intel DG2 [Arc A750] GPU. The system is running openSUSE Slowroll with ffmpeg-9.0.2 from the Packman community repository.

The input file was an MPEG-2 video (HDV 1080i50), which was also deinterlaced to 50p using VAAPI for smoother panning. The files sizes, ffmpeg code lines and results as follows:

745M    hdv09_04.m2t (input file)
504M    hdv09_04_h264_vaapi_50p.mp4
428M    hdv09_04_hevc_vaapi_50p.mp4

ffmpeg -hide_banner -init_hw_device vaapi -i hdv09_04.m2t -vf 'format=nv12,hwupload,deinterlace_vaapi=rate=field' -c:v h264_vaapi -qp 23 -c:a copy hdv09_04_h264_vaapi_50p.mp4
.....
frame=11924 fps=612 q=-0.0 Lsize=  515426KiB time=00:03:59.04 bitrate=17663.9kbits/s speed=12.3x elapsed=0:00:19.47

ffmpeg -hide_banner -init_hw_device vaapi -i hdv09_04.m2t -vf 'format=nv12,hwupload,deinterlace_vaapi=rate=field' -c:v hevc_vaapi -global_quality 25 -c:a copy hdv09_04_hevc_vaapi_50p.mp4
......
frame=11924 fps=612 q=-0.0 Lsize=  437793KiB time=00:03:59.04 bitrate=15003.4kbits/s speed=12.3x elapsed=0:00:19.49

I tried rendering a file using h264_vaapi.mp4 and encountered a crash with the following message (no dump):

Assertion pic->nb_dpb_pics < 16 failed at libavcodec/hw_base_encode.c:62

Keep in mind that Vaapi doesn't work for me even outside of CinGG.
