Currently looking at how MLT fixed the vaapi new requirement of "ffmpeg now requires to be given not only the "-hwaccel_device" option, but also the "-vaapi_device" option" for ffmpeg 8.x with the patch:
so with some help, hopefully this can be fixed soon.

I am really burned out by ffmpeg *especially*, so I pass ....

I do not think I'll be doing any work in cingg in ..near/foreseeable future.

Lets hope those "AI" assistants really can help even non-developers .....

FFmpeg 9.0.2 has been checked into GIT despite the fact that vaapi rendering does not work and could crash.  Changes prior to 9.0, that is 8.x also has failure with error messages but not crashes and so far apparently it is not much of an issue for users since no one reported yet.

yeah? I was using it  .... but anyway, I think I am going  to sleep for now.

I will delete from GIT the ffmpeg/video/xxx_vaapk.ext render formats that currently crash after I finish testing all of them but the ones that give fail and give an error message will be left in so they can be eventually fixed.

I tried building from the repository with the new patches, and everything worked without problems.

Thanks!

It always nice when things "just work" after update!
