1.Kernel
Compatibility
The
current official Pro Capture series (both Pro Capture AIO and
Pro Capture HDMI) Linux driver fully supports compilation and
stable production operation across the Linux 6.x kernel
family, including versions 6.4, 6.12 and 6.18.
Linux
kernel 7.1 has not completed official compatibility testing
and validation at this time, so we cannot guarantee reliable,
stable performance on 7.x mainline kernels.
2.10-bit
YUV via V4L2
True
10-bit uncompressed YUV pixel formats (both 4:4:4 and 4:2:2)
from the S-Video analog input are not exposed via the standard
public V4L2 subsystem. To access native 10-bit pixel data from
the analog front end, you can use the official Magewell SDK.
3.FFmpeg
Pipeline & Down-conversion
As
noted above, the standard V4L2 interface does not support
10-bit output with our driver. As a result, a native
V4L2-based FFmpeg capture command (e.g. ffmpeg
-f v4l2 -i /dev/video0) cannot maintain a full 10-bit
pipeline end-to-end, and will be limited to 8-bit formats such
as YUY2 or UYVY.
4.
Analog Signal Tolerance
Line-TBC
is not supported. For frame-sync, you can use the mwcap-control
utility to activate sync-slice-level features, which will
process jittery analog signals smoothly to avoid frame loss
and connection drops.
