Certainly, I was "brave enough to try it" but it did not work well for me.  Only loaded 1 image on the timeline for a 1 minute 31 seconds video and played so slow that I was not sure at first if it was even playing then finally saw an image change in the Compositor.  The Audio did not work for me, but that is OK.  Error messages I got were:

AudioOSS::open_output: No such file or directory

SNDCTL_DSP_SETFRAGMENT 2 failed.
SNDCTL_DSP_SETFMT 2 failed
SNDCTL_DSP_CHANNELS 2 failed
SNDCTL_DSP_SPEED 2 failed

makeappimage need setting CXXFLAGS=-std=gnu++11, and adding liboost_filesystem for boost 1.61, and minor editing in appdir.C (constexpr t lines 33 and 35 to just const)

but it seems to work, after I added desktop entry and (as hack) cingg svg icon ...

Is anyone brave enough to test it? :)
