AppImage has some great advantages but also some disadvantages, one of which is stated below from the manual:

AppImage will probably not allow for either VDPAU or VA-API hardware acceler-
ation because the computer where AppImage is created will not have the same
graphics card and/or vaapi/vdpau libraries as yours. It is recommended for best
results that you build CINELERRA-GG on your speciﬁc computer..

There is an AppImage workaround that another user provided to solve this library problem, but it is not for the casual user -

The laptop computer that I created the AppImage that you are using is an AMD based computer running an older Fedora version 32 and has the following installed:

./usr/lib64/vdpau/libvdpau_radeonsi.so.1.0.0

which I "think" is included in the AppImage generated there. (Andrew is knowledgeable in this area but I am not, so further clarification may have to come from him).
