I will add a similar note as Andrea has suggested.
You are right; my graphics card (VCN 2.0) is not capable of AV1
hardware encoding at 8-10bit.
I propose to add a note to the presets similar to:
# The GPU must be capable of 8-10bit hardware encoding.
