Cinelerra is a good application to make video composition, where it is very common to use rotation ... and well I have nothing against the current rotation effect, only it is a bit, I don't know how I would say it, or you don't get or you go overboard and waste a lot of time when you need a custom rotation. Would an effect like that of the image in cinelerra be possible? Or an abuse on my part to ask for something like that? It is easy to do, or it takes a lot of work. [image: rotate Cinfinity.png] ------------------------- I also think users would greatly appreciate and welcome the addition of the rotate option on both the camera and projector. ------------------------- One last question, can the Python language be used to do things in cinelerra, such as effects or tools to facilitate work, or is it not useful? I do not know how to program, but sometimes Maya or Blender give me scripts in mel or python, and well without understanding, I will change some values to suit my needs, but I do not rule out signing up for a course to learn python. Will I be able to do things in Cinelerra with this language? Or is it not supported? Thank you.
RafaMar, I think you should make a feature request out of this and add it to the Bug Tracker. The reason I say this is because we are always hoping that another programmer decides to help and making modifications to a plugin, like Rotate, is a very good way to get started working on Cinelerra development. That way if a programmer looks in the Bug Tracker, they can choose something interesting but not overwhelming. Many of the plugins are the original ones added years and years ago and so are more basic and could certainly be embellished. And over time, that does get done. For example, the Title plugin was very minimal originally and now is quite robust by comparison. (Oh, and pleas add that it would be good to put this in the Camera/Projector too if you create a Bug Tracker issue). It is not that easy to do and takes quite a bit of fiddling. Programming it is a lot different than drawing it! Unfortunately, there is no facilitating way to change Cinelerra. It is all programming code (C++) and no scripting. The original Cinelerra-C manual (cinelerra_cv_manual_en.pdf somewhere on the internet) did have a chapter on "Plugin Authoring" but you still had to be a programmer to author a plugin and we left that out of the current manual as just plain ridiculous. About Rotate Plugin, I agrre with you RafaMar about a better GUI. For all the Preset degree there are in your photomontage I disagree, too many. If you want save some special presets there is the Preset Edit option in the plugin bar (the 3th icon on the left). So you can save, for example, 33.52° and 52.67° and then to load them when you needed. I think you always know that feature. IgorBeg
Thank you very much to both. Phyllis, as soon as I have a moment I will follow your recommendation. Igor, thank you very much for your observation, but when working on video composition the important thing is not whether they are 53.25 or 45, the important thing is what you see and being able to easily adjust both the rotation and the pivot. I wanted to do some tutorials on video composition techniques in Cinelerra, but not having a rotation effect that makes the job easier has made me leave this matter for now. It is incomprehensible how stressful the current rotation effect is when you want to work looking at the result regardless of the degrees of rotation ... and the pivot ... better not even touch it, I find it very stressful used to other tools where rotation never It has given me no problem. And it does not give problems, but one does not work happily with this current effect. [image: Práctica_OK.gif] El vie., 5 jun. 2020 a las 9:58, Igor BEGHETTO (<[email protected]>) escribió:

RafaMar, I think that your workflow is different by mine, but I understand you. However, I use the Pivot parameter only for specific things. When I want to rotate and move an object (image) on the canvas I use both Rotate and Crop&Position plugins. So Rotate keyframes are separated from Position keyframes. For more complicated animations I use Blender like most of You. IgorBeg
OK, but what is the "elephant in the room"? that is the map of the airplane, car, and boat??
Hi Igor, thank you very much for your comments. I only intend to make tutorials so that non-professionals can make their videos with free applications. I know they are not great tutorials, but people with little knowledge do well. But on the other hand, and in a more professional way, it is a great shame that the camera and projector assistants do not have rotation, and that Cinelerra does not have a good rotation effect that makes this task easy. Phyllis, an elephant in the room ... ??? where??? Wait, I'll put my glasses on !!! I guess it refers to the gif I attached, forgot the CinGG server limits and should have uploaded it on the streamable website. Greetings to both of you P.S. Phyllis, I'm going to make the request on the Cinelerra website, as you indicated. El vie., 5 jun. 2020 a las 15:26, Phyllis Smith (<[email protected]>) escribió:

RafaMar, I think your tutorials are really good. Unfortunately, or fortunately, Cinelerra-GG works different by other NLE's on some point of view: for example, it works for track and not for clip. So there are some things easy to do and for others you have to do a workaround. I know Adobe Premiere PRO, Lightworks, and others NLEs work very fine, BUT they have a team of programmers and Cinelerra-GG only has ONE Great Programmer. ...And it is free and open source. ;-) Finally, I would like a rotate feature on Projector tool. Thanks! IgorBeg
Thanks to you Igor. I did not know that Cinelerra GG only had one person programming. Track edit lines are wonderful, but any editor worth your salt should have a basic transform effect for video clips, from which you can move, scale and rotate. In Cinelerra there is already this transformation effect, only it lacks rotation, I mean the assistant called camera and projector. It would be enough to add a slider that covers from -360 to 360 degrees. And the pivot instead of being wheels, being boxes with values and being able to drag this on the monitor (This would be wonderful) But now that I know that there is only one person behind Cinelerra ... I even feel bad for asking for these things. Opacity is not so important and as it is in cinelerra it is perfect and very practical. Regards.
