Aspect Ratio Super 35
Hi, how do you make an input video (viewport) into 2.35 (super 35) format? Let me explain: starting from a 1920x1080 video (16:9) I want to get to a viewport of the same width (1920) but with a height reduced by 1/2.35 (W/H=2.35 ==> H= W / 2.35) I saw the nice video of Ingo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZG7yCj3uLjE But I think it can also be done by RMB on the track and then "resize track" (and no "crop"). The result is that a side of your choice (or both) is multiplied by 2.35; but, I think, it is not the aspect ratio of a super 35. See the following video: https://streamable.com/t158d9 Does anyone know how to do this? (also posted in the forum)
Andrea_paz, I didn't understand. What is your goal? Is It the same of Ingo? If yes, you can use its workflow. Otherwise, if you want a format project of 1920x1080, but insert a video inside with a different rate you can use Crop&Position plugin or Translate plugin. So you have a 2.35 rate video format in a FullHD project. Is it what you want? IgorBeg Il 04/06/2020 13.45, Andrea paz ha scritto:

@IgorBeg Yes, the purpose is to Ingo, which you can do more directly through Settings --> Format --> aspect ratio. But I wanted to put this direct "Aspect Ratio" option also in "Resize Track", because it can be convenient to have it on the individual tracks in input instead of on the whole project in output. @All The topic "aspect ratio" is not very important for CinGG because it mainly concerns the cinema and to a lesser degree broadcast TV. But I'd like to make "resize track" (and "Info --> Resize", too) suitable for changing aspect ratios of one track, similar to what you can do in Settings --> Format for the whole project. Basically, I suggest we add an entry "Aspect ratio =... ..." that only affects the viewport of a given track. It is not a very important addition, because you can always do a simple calculation and get the desired result. But it is an exquisitely professional addition, always present in the most famous editing programs, and I would like to see it on CinGG.
I don't understand you (Andrea), again. Sorry. Resize track in timeline do it right. Scenario: Your Project format is 1280x720 (16/9) and you have 2 or more video tracks. If you want that the edits in a track (renamed "V_40-17") have a different rate (in your example 2.35 => 40/17) you use RMB on that edit/track in Timeline and set Size from 1280x720 to 1280x544. So you can see in the Compositor that the format video in other tracks remains at 16/9 and in "V_40-17" track is 40/17. Maybe I misunderstand. IgorBeg Il 05/06/2020 11.45, Andrea paz ha scritto:

I'm sorry I can't explain, but it's not important. Try going to Settings --> Format; There are the W ratio and H ratio input boxes that match the "Scale" boxes in Resize Track. In this way we have to calculate the ratio we want (40/17 or 2.35 or W/ratio =H; etc). As you indicated. But in Format there is an additional input box called "Aspect ratio" with the "Auto" button next to it. This box lets you choose the aspect ratio directly: 4:3 - 16:9 - 2.35 - etc. I would also like this box in "Resize Track" (and also in "Resources --> Info --> Resize"). It's one more thing, since it's trite to do the calculation on your own, but the concept of aspect ratio is important and not trivial, especially for the beginners. Providing a direct and clear input box seems to me a good idea. But I repeat: it's not important at all.

The "Aspect ratio" parameter, there, is meant for Anamorphic format. So it changes DAR (Display Aspect Ratio) and/or PAR (Pixel Aspect Ratio) for some types of container/codec: pixel may not be square (1:1). I think you always know. IgorBeg
I didn't realize that. My request for the addition to "Resize Track" is wrong. Thank you and I apologize for wasting your time.
