Fwd: in/out point selected plugin attach fix?
For some reason, my reply only went to Andrew so am forwarding it correctly. ---------- Forwarded message --------- From: Phyllis Smith <[email protected]> Date: Sun, Aug 8, 2021 at 7:52 PM Subject: Re: in/out point selected plugin attach fix? To: Andrew Randrianasulu <[email protected]> Andrew, forgot to respond to the following: again, I wonder why it was noted by Phyllis "but making it a Preference is
not a good idea.". Just because our Preferences a bit crowded already?
In the past, we have gotten into trouble when the Preferences window got bigger on some smaller monitors. A goal has always been to have Cinelerra continue to work on lesser hardware (which is one of the reasons proxy exists). What was happening is that the Preferences menu on a small monitor was cut off at the bottom and so there was no way for the user to click OK, Apply, or Cancel ! so the user was stuck. There is a minimum size for this window and adding more Preferences in the Appearance tab causes problems if it does not fit while still "looking good". So at this time it is very important to save room in Preferences for the really necessary things.
I did a lot of testing on how the plugins work in the 3 modes of Gang (patch 1 and 2 only). I summarized the results in a table. If you can match the behavior I found you will do me a favor. The only thing that doesn't make sense to me (?) is RMB --> Attach Effect in Gang None. It also applies on unarmed tracks; in my opinion it should be more consistent to only act on armed tracks.

Can you export/save it also as pdf? (no libreoffice here..)

With the patch Is All OK, thanks.

We can not change this behavior as it has been in place forever as noted in HV demo: https://streamable.com/sy8w4j I am still trying to get a CV version to work to check it also. Had trouble with the downloaded version Andrew pointed me too but it had "i386" in the name and it looks like Slackware - I really do not know how to use it but I have another idea.
I've never used "RMB --> Attach Effects" so I was unaware of this behavior. I'm left curious about the motivations on this out of std behavior, since by default (Gang None) unarmed tracks should be untouchable.
