Some possible thirdparty updates I noticed
Hi all!! Hi, Rafa :} I remember about your requests, but so far intensively look at some other corner .... Things I recently updated on my machine: Openjpeg2-2.4.0 http://www.openjpeg.org/2020/12/28/OpenJPEG-2.4.0-released ==== OpenJPEG 2.4.0 released 28 December 2020 Good news everyone ! OpenJPEG 2.4.0 is released today. This release brings several improvements on the encoder side: support for multithreading support for generation of PLT markers single-threaded performance improvements in forward DWT for 5-3 and 9-7 (and other improvements) support IMF profiles as well as various bugfixes, as detailed in the Changelog hereunder. ===== libsndfile 1.0.31: https://github.com/libsndfile/libsndfile/releases mostly small memleaks? It still configures with autotools .... https://github.com/libjpeg-turbo/libjpeg-turbo/releases/tag/2.0.6 might fix some crashes? At CinGG's thirdparty we currently have: libjpeg-turbo-2.0.5.tar.xz libsndfile-1.0.28.tar.xz openjpeg-2.3.1.tar.xz Of course BIG question here will it still work after upgrade ? :} I'll try to figure this out There also was openEXR update, 2.5.3 https://github.com/AcademySoftwareFoundation/openexr/releases/tag/v2.5.3 with claimed perf. optimization. But this specific library makes me a bit more nervous about updating ...still may be I'll try even this!
You are doing a great job. Right now I just sent an email to Phyllis with the files so that the batch render wizard will have her help button [?] That opens the quick start guide. Now we only have it in two languages, English and Spanish, but it would be great if it was translated into more languages, if you know of someone who could do it in Russian that would be great. I could help in French, Portuguese and Italian, but always under the supervision of native people, languages like German and Russian are totally unknown to me, sorry. I send you the files in case you want to look at them and test them, I have tested it and the new help button works perfectly. Thank you very much for your always good work. I forgot to tell you that the html and pdf files have to go inside the cin/doc folder of the Cinelerra installation. Regards El sáb, 30 ene 2021 a las 16:49, Rafa Mar Multimedia en Gnu\Linux (< [email protected]>) escribió:

Dav1d and ffmpg have also had updates.
Yeah, but last time dav1d update broke decoding somehow? Andrew-R et al, FFmpeg is good to keep up to date for sure. But... please refer to section B.4 for more details about upgrading 3rd party libraries. Here is a summary though:
CINELERRA-GG attempts to upgrade to the latest releases of many thirdparty libraries about every 3-4 months. But it is often difficult to keep some of thesethirdparty libraries up to date as their developers switch from tried and true standard tools to newer, less standard tools. As a result in order to build CINELERRA-GG on 2-3 versions of any distro rather than only the most current version, some third-party libraries can not be kept up to date and may even be to the point of no furthe rupdates. In a lot of cases, the updated releases provide little new capabilities but rather are bug fixes that may not even be relevant to CINELERRA-GG’s use.
Biggest problem can be on the older distros, like maybe Ubuntu 16, and with little used packages such as OpenEXR, wepb, libaom, libvpx, x10tv, OpenCV, and Dav1d. I would hate to see users with older distros prevented from using CinelerraGG. I would not update any of these but users who really want them can do their own builds as recommended in section B.4.
