libaom 3.1.1 patch for Ubuntu 16.04.7
It seems Cmake version bump in libaom 3.1.x was mostly cosmetic - it builds with attached patch (put in thirdparty/src) right now this new (CinelerraGG/ffmpeg-4.4/libaom-3.1.1) build completes - so not tested yet.
Andrew, this would be great to have because when I create the older.AppImage I have to remember to revert to libaom.3.0.0 and it is a pain. I will try to find time to test on ubuntu 16 tomorrow. Thanks. On Tue, Sep 7, 2021 at 1:09 PM Andrew Randrianasulu via Cin < [email protected]> wrote:

Andrew, this works well on Ubuntu 16.04 and is very good to have. I will check it into GIT next time I boot the desktop. Start of "RANT" ***************** And now for a "rant" -- I am disgusted by the developers/maintainers of these type of libraries. Are they so unable to "make" these libraries with the current set of directions that they need to change "cmake" again and again? What in the world are they adding to "make" it so that older operating systems can no longer compile their library. Are they that inept and non-versatile? ***************** End of "RANT" On Tue, Sep 7, 2021 at 1:09 PM Andrew Randrianasulu via Cin < [email protected]> wrote:

I read today that Windows 11 supports Linux programs with a GUI. https://www.theregister.com/2021/10/05/windows_11_in_detail/ about halfway down. Quote: <GUI Linux applications can be pinned to the taskbar and launched as if they were native Windows applications.> end quote. I strongly suspect you need to install a special Linux distro first, but has anyone been able to try it with the AppImage of CinGG? I have no Windows anywhere. MatN

Mat First I have no knowledge or experience with this topic myselfe, but point on some related stuff. (The closest I tried and looked at several years ago, was Cygwin on Windows) ---------- A practical guide to using AppImages on WSL2. https://blog.dvmm.dev/a-practical-guide-to-using-appimages-on-wsl2 Run Linux GUI apps on the Windows Subsystem for Linux (preview) https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wsl/tutorials/gui-apps ---- The above is not unlike the CLI installation in the Readme for Cin-GG. Additional, the appimage is "extracted", something I noticed another person mentioned made his Appimage program faster on his Linux. Possibly also AppImageLauncher works on the actual Linux distro on WSL2 ? ------- The base looks to be WSL2 - Windows Subsystem for Linux - a compatibility layer for running Linux binary executables natively on Windows systems. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Subsystem_for_Linux Then one or more of the several Linux distributions can be installed from Microsoft store: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/search/shop/apps?q=wsl --------- Terje J. Not so important, and possibly I had a look at Cygwin too, but what I meant was the predecessor "Windows Services for Unix" (SFU) Terje J. H
