New feature. Is it real?
Hello! I propose to consider the concept of new functionality. To improve the usability, it is useful to have constant access to all project resources in the viewing window. You can implement this using the tabs. Example: https://pic4a.ru/912/qba.gif -- Ugin.
This looks like a quite useful convenient feature, but sometimes people have 10's and 10's of files and it would be difficult to get that many media tabs on the Viewer. A common project I have seen consists of 84 clips (too many tabs) which are dragged to the Viewer, one at a time in order to quickly pick the one to be used. Current method of viewing all of the media, is in the Resources window, highlight all or just the interesting media and right mouse click to bring up the option of "View in new window". This opens up a different viewer window for each piece of media. Like in: https://streamable.com/4s2h7 I like the tab idea as it is so obvious and easy to find/see, but I doubt I can convince gg to work on this. The analogy with Internet browsers begs, right? Previously, you had to open a new page in a new window, and then implemented tabs. If you adopt some of the ways to navigate tabs from browsers, then users will not have to get used to it. And if you leave the opportunity to open resources in the window, then everyone will be able to choose what will be more convenient for him. -- Ugin

Sorry, Ugin, I don't like your idea. I think that "Inter-View Mode" is really useful for that. Do you know the "InterView Mode" features? You can find it in the CinelerraGG_manual (April 2019) 6.6 section, https://cinelerra-gg.org/download/CinelerraGG_manual.pdf or in the CinelerraGG_manual_WorkInProgress (November 2019) 5.6 section, https://cinelerra-gg.org/download/CinelerraGG_manual_WIP.pdf There were some sceencasts to show you, made by Phyllis and Sam (I think), but I don't remember where they are. Initially I was against the idea, Because I only imagined it to be permanent and automatically create a tab for each media present in the sources. With a project with 150 sources, the suite of tabs would only be an unusable nuisance... But if the tabs were optional and could be created individually from the context menu of each source. Then, it could be useful to create one or a few tabs, for the basic sources; those in which one draws most frequently, but without each time having to find them in the long list of sources. In this context of use, I believe that a new tabs function could be useful for the viewer. Pierre On 19-12-28 09 h 25, Igor BEGHETTO wrote:

So far, I see that this question closely intersects with the need to catalog media in the resource window. What is the best way to do this? Sort by folders? -- Ugin

Maybe you already know that otherwise, if it can help, look at the very old screencast from 2m24s. https://streamable.com/3z5p8 The old screencast shows the creation of User Bins for the Clips but you can also create them for the Media. (the full screencast shows my workflow for Proxy with the Clips)

Thank you, IgorBeg! I didn't know about this feature. I like it! "Century live - century learn" :) -- Ugin.
