possible aspect ratio bug with rotated videos?
So, I looked into folders with videos recorded on my tablet sometime in last summer. Some of them naturally rotated (vertical) I found latest cingg git show them with wrong (inversed) aspect ratio until I bring up format window and doubleclick on Auto checkbox near format dropdown menus .... I just used 'cin' as program in window "Open with ..." available from context menu item by right-click on video file in konqueror filemanager ( TDE 14.0.13), effectively using cin as video player Was this bug there before? May be * I * made it while working on aspect ratio autodetect .... Something to think about outside of bluray box!
A tablet file I tested (that Andrew provided) does have the results he reported. But interestingly, if you go into Settings->Preferences, the Appearance tab and turn off "Auto rotate ffmpeg media" which is for detecting Metadata of the rotate type, it has the correct aspect ratio but sideways! The Audo Rotate feature was added using a GoPro video if I remember correctly. Next I will test older builds to see what it does. Tested on Sept. 18, 2020 with "Auto Rotate" enabled and it correctly loaded with the right Aspect Ratio. So, a little something must have been missed in the later auto ratio autodetect patch. But since there is an easy workaround ... On Mon, Dec 26, 2022 at 5:56 PM Andrew Randrianasulu via Cin < [email protected]> wrote:

Andrew, tested with patch on a GoPro video which has metadata and 2 1440x1080 .mp4 files with no metadata. Everything worked as it was supposed. Also replayed Fennec and Volvchik and they worked with the patch too. Do you think it is ready to be checked in? On Tue, Dec 27, 2022 at 2:42 AM Andrew Randrianasulu < [email protected]> wrote:

Then I think it can go in, just try to make this one as separate commit so it will be easy to revert (or find in git log). Thanks for testing, I'll do my part a bit later tonight

Andrew, thank you. I checked just this one-liner into GIT. A couple of days ago, besides the cache.C for Slackware undo EDL and plugin.opts for OpenCl, I also checked into the bdwrite ilaced mods that fixed the problem of 1 case that Terje ran into. yeah, I saw it, thanks! Let's hope those changes will not introduce new bugs, but usually we learn about this after monthly builds are done and tested a bit .....
