Hello, I would like to know because there is no version for Windows 10
Historically CinGG started as a fork of a Linux-only program. For the history see Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinelerra There is a way to install CinGG on Windows, but it requires some expertise and is a limited version: https://cinelerra-gg.org/download/CinelerraGG_Manual/Windows_10_with_Cygwin_... If you try this installation, please let us know the result, because we are missing tests.
There is also the possibility to use CinGG's AppImage inside WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux), but I've never tries that too.
The WSL version 2 is not directly capable of running any Linux program. It is a specialised virtual machine, in which you have to install a custom version of Ubuntu. I am not sure in what form this Ubuntu comes. Then you can run Linux programs, the Cinelerra AppImage should be fine. I don't know how good in integrates with the Windows world. It is do-able if you are willing to spend the effort. You can also install a different virtual machine like VirtualBox (free for private use), and install Linux in there. Integration with the host system (Window in this case) is quite good. Like Andrea said, there is an experimental windows build made with Cygwin, but it lacks many things compared to the Linux version and is little tested. To be honest, it would require a lot of effort to bring it up to the Linux standard, and there are multiple other video editors for Windows, so the limited developer resources are better spent working on the Linux version. But by all means, test it if you can. Regards, Mat On Fri, 12 Mar 2021 10:55:36 +0100 Andrea paz via Cin <[email protected]> wrote:

From reading some Blogs I seem to understand that, with WSL, you have to use XLaunch (which is part of Xming) to start the application. I wonder if it works with CinGG's AppImage.

@Andrea, thanks, I did not know about these. From reading the Xming site, it looks like it is a X server for Windows built with MinGW. So it implements the X-server (=client) side part of X-windows. Is it not intended to use Linux programs remotely with the output on the Windows machine? The Xlaunch site also seem to assume WSL2 run Ubuntu, so you use Ubunto to run the programs, and Xming to display the output. In that setup it might work, but is a very large footprint to run an 80 MB program... Running CinGG on Windows requires much of CygWin (20 G according to the CinGG manual, cannot test it as I don't have Windows anywhere). In total, it could well be bigger than the Ubuntu solution, but neither seems an efficient solution. And neither an efficient use of test and developer resources..
