Hi, does anyone know and use pipewire as a replacement for pulseaudio and jack? Is it advisable to make the switch?

Hi Andrea. From what I know, PipeWire is still under (heavy) development. It is starting to be integrated into distributions. If you want to help to wipe bugs out, you can go there. If you want something that works without you having to worry about it, it seems wiser to wait. Hope that helps. Thanks for the information. An Arch Linux update installed pipewire but without making it active. I think I will continue with pulseaudio because I have no capability to test suond backends.

Hi Andrea, I have been using pipewire in archlinux on plasma / kde for like 2 weeks, it seems to work all fine. it comes to definitely replace pulseaudio. check out this post from lwn. https://lwn.net/SubscriberLink/847412/d7826b1353e33734/ --

Thank you, did you also remove Jack as well as Pulseaudio?
if it needs to be uninstalled, pipewire-pulse is installed instead. https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/PipeWire#Audio --
Walter, thanks for providing that link. Now I am concerned about CinelerraGG usage with this because there I read: "Pipewire a new daemon created (in part) out of these attempts, will replace PulseAudio in the upcoming Fedora 34 release" because that is what I use. ...Phyllis On Mon, Mar 8, 2021 at 5:36 AM Walter Casanova via Cin < [email protected]> wrote:

I think we should have a BT entry for "add pipewire support". MatN On Mon, 8 Mar 2021 07:15:53 -0700 Phyllis Smith via Cin <[email protected]> wrote:
