My curiosity: I don't use Wayland because I have a widegamut monitor and use a color space greater than sRGB. I was wondering how CinGG works on Wayland, or rather, on XWayland. Has anyone tried it? I am mainly referring to the color part, but also the performance.
Maybe Terje has tried this recently. He did test a little as noted in: https://www.cinelerra-gg.org/bugtracker/view.php?id=122 but he mentioned Wayland and not Xwayland. I would really like to know the answer to this too! On Tue, Feb 11, 2025 at 6:15 AM Andrea paz via Cin < [email protected]> wrote:

The Xwayland is only option to run x11 apps on wayland compositors. Best regards, Andrey вт, 11 февр. 2025 г., 20:49 Phyllis Smith via Cin < [email protected]>:

Yes, I can confirm I use Display: x11 server: X.org v: 1.21.1.15 with: Xwayland v: 24.1.4 driver: X: loaded: modesetting unloaded: vesa dri: iris gpu: i915 resolution: 2560x1440~60Hz on my machines with Slowroll; maybe it was v. 24.1.1 on Leap. I works ok, but I do not use or have any knowledge of advanced color work. Terje Den 11.02.2025 19:08, skrev Андрей Спицын via Cin:

Regarding color: for now Wayland only supports sRGB, so there is no real color management. They have only devoted themselves to supporting HDR in movies and video games, taking advantage of Steam's “gamescope,” despite constant requests for a real CMS. I don't have much confidence... Regarding Xwayland, I wonder what will happen to it when all distros switch to Wayland and remove support for XOrg.
