You could give commands: sudo pacman -Qqetn > pkglist.txt sudo pacman -Qqem > aurlist.txt and post them here, so I can understand if there are differences in packages and versions between Manjaro and Arch?

I don't think i ever had problems compiling on Arch/Manjaro, but multiple times where an update killed the system. And yes, without fixing configure.ac you cannot build. There ought to be a Arch/Manjaro section in bld_prepare.sh. Not so difficult to do but very tedious (adding packages from clean install until you have just enough.
