I discovered that WPML translated the strings after all. Only a 
synchronization of the menu was missing. As far as I can tell, you don't 
need to translate the strings anymore. The tool is really complicated, I 
need some time myself to understand everything.

I've only updated a few minor things on the website, so there are a few 
updates - jobs in the queue of WPML.  Thanks for your support.
