Vaapi and vdpau also provide decoding support (for the few codecs they
support...), while vaapi and nvenc provide encoding support (again for
a few codecs).

[For decoding, I find it more efficient to use formats suitable for
video editing (ProRes; DNxHR; ffv1) than the usual h264-5 with
hardware support.]
