Strange, there should be two files (done by git format-patch in cingg
directory) in subfolder inside xz'ed tar file ...

md5sum x265_git_upd.tar.xz
 ba8f7319feca9d71db64d56d8cd2df36  x265_git_upd.tar.xz

oh not, it was bzip2!

file x265_git_upd.tar.xz
 x265_git_upd.tar.xz: bzip2 compressed data, block size = 900k
