I tried default ffmpeg  mp4 profile and it was giving me errors ...

But I think I fixed it, see last patch in attached git series (modelled
after ffmpeg-7.0/doc/examples/transcode_aac.c)

not sure about ac3 encoding and bdwrite yet ...
