Yes! It is possible, using "Multi Camer / Mixer" - Expert Usage:
https://cinelerra-gg.org/download/CinelerraGG_Manual/Multi_Camera_Mixer.html#SECTION008704000000000000000
I write the steps:
1. If the Video Track is not already there, in the Timeline, create a
new one. It doesn't matter if it is created on the top of the tracks.
2. Create a "Mixer Viewer" for it: Menu-> Window-> Mixers...-> Mixer
Viewer ( or using Shift+M shortcut).
3. Disable "Play Track" on that Video Track: "Play Track" is the icon
button on its PatchBay.
4. link the Mixer (Viewer/Compositor) to that Video Track:
- Enable the Mixer: You can see a white rectangle around the Mixer
window.
- Press the Mixer icon on the Patchbay of the Video Track.
You can see all the Effects in the Mixer window AND you will not see
that Video Track in the Compositor.
For performance problem I usually use Proxy with: "Rescaled to project
size (FFMPEG only)" option UNchecked

Tell me if you need a video, even though you can see something in the
"Cinelerra GG: Multi Cam editing (with Proxy)" on YouTube:
