I have successful tested two cases DVD Render to iso from HDV source.
In both cases the Audio seemed to be locked to AC3 codec.
It could have been of interest to just copy without reencode/recompress 
the compliant MP2 audio from the HDV source.

1) Format PAL (25.00) 16x9 and default (mpeg2enc)

Stored and displayed seemingly correct with DAR 16:9 and full image (not 
cropped)
