CinGG's Youtube channel
Just a quick note to report that the CinGG Youtube channel has reached 401 subscribers. It must be said, however, that lately the enrollments have slowed down a lot compared to the early days. In recent years I have convinced only one person to switch to CinGG; moreover, lately the arrival of DaVinci Resolve on linux constitutes a formidable competitor even if not open source. ;-)

Good to know and thank you for keeping track.

This is OK, Cinelerra will always be a "niche" piece of software. Having survived more than 20 years is a testament to its continued viability and provides another choice for users. It is just like car brands - though Toyota is the most popular in the United States and takes the lion's share of the market, there are many more choices that give users options to buy Volkswagens, Buicks, etc.

and there is slightly bigger G'MIC channel, it contain some image morphing sequences (I saw someone asked about morphing transitions on our forum?) https://m.youtube.com/c/GMIC_software/videos Good to know and thank you for keeping track.

I remember years ago there was a request to implement GMICs in CinGG. The answer was that they were too heavy and would slow down the program too much. They are actually better suited for still images than video. A morphing filter would be nice, though.

I think G'MIC itself can read/write some videos IF compiled with OpenCV support (and OpenCV in turn compiled with video support) Also, Igor posted interesting video I only saw today "Alpha Track Matte with the Reroute and Chroma Key effects in Cinelerra." https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ZxMrYd1pj58

Really good. I recommend you also read the tutorial on his blog, where he explains in detail how to do it (I saved it on HDD translated into Italian!).

yeah. while he also noted in CinGG we currently have broken overlay modes .... ( quite sad to know, I asked for how to reproduce in comments.

Overlay modes were temporarily broken when a Freelancer tried to "fix" the "unwanted black flash", but that was backed out. So as far as I know, they are working and if/when I catch up, I can test. It was added 10/31/2021 and backed out 01/31/2022 when IgorBeg reported it. Freelancer help is of little use as it takes real dedication and understanding to modify Cinelerra without breaking stuff. Sad.

can you replicate setup shown at https://linuxvideoediting.blogspot.com/2022/09/transparent-text-effect-with-... this is some heavy usage of effects and tracks so may be bug only surfaced under those conditions.
Will try to replicate after I finish testing your analysis and debugging of the Miroslav libtiff issue and upgrading to 4.4.0. That needs to get done so thanks for the reminder. On Wed, Sep 21, 2022 at 12:58 PM Andrew Randrianasulu < [email protected]> wrote:

Unfortunately, I am not very good at actually running complicated things in Cinelerra, however I think I set up similar options but not sure I got everything done correctly and my replication attempt after some time was unsuccessful. *I bet that IgorBeg can though* as he is quite clever in getting CinGG to do complicated setups. The attached does show what I was capable of though! ; )
