Not really, but it compiled to completion, and shwed startup messages and died in GL library call (inside GL library, mesa) :) So, trying to rebuild on netBSD/sparc with opengl disabled Not even diffs, just bootstrap.c and Makefile from guicast folder. Need more ram on compile machine, 256 M too small with 32 Mb of swap for affine.c :)

I guess towards 2005 end of this range memories become increasingly more frustrated? :) (due to speed gulf between sparcstations and PCs at that time)

Yes, it was a "fight". Actually I fell in love with the popular Unix and Motorola 68k based Sun-2 and 3 workstations already when I saw them showed first time in the 80s, in competition with the proprietary Apollo ws. Sun had little success with their 386 based workstation before Sparc. EO OT from me this time. https://www.1000bit.it/js/web/viewer.html?file=%2Fad%2Fbro%2Fsun%2Fsun%2Dsun... https://www.1000bit.it/js/web/viewer.html?file=%2Fad%2Fbro%2Fsun%2Fsparc%2Fs... https://www.1000bit.it/js/web/viewer.html?file=%2Fad%2Fbro%2Fsun%2Fsparcstat...
I'm sure someone would want to debate it, but IMHO sparc32 is not an appropriate platform for cinelerra in 2025. I'd argue that "minimum system requirements" should include at least 4Gbyte of RAM, 64bit multi-core CPU, and at least PCIe SATA-2 storage channel. with the XV-xwindows driver graphical composition on integrated GPUs is "adequate", but only barely. For video stuff? sure. But cinelerra is also audio editor, and as such can be used (at least in theory) on lower end platforms .... To my surprise I learned that termux version of cingg I have compiled in updated termux/Android 11 environment actually CAN play sound, just when displaying via remote X11 to my desktop ... If I connect to RealVNC or use termux-x11 it crashes for mysterious reasons on audio playback, or plays no audio with newly-added alsa support (mplayer works fine from termux). There was bug about this termix-specific crash filled by me ...somewhere in Mantis Bugzilla ... it probably still down :( )

I never really considered cin to be an audio-editor, but purely an NLE for a/v composition: both audio and video.

It was intended use back in time ;) http://mstation.org/bcast.html === Adam Williams is the author of Broadcast 2000, an app which allows you to mix audio and video and looks a little like Pro Tools. If you're mixing audio on a low end pentium or such, one of the nice things you can do is render a succession of tracks with fx in non-realtime and then mix them. ===== But again, *compiling* all dependencies of say Audacity takes quite a time even on my main AMD FX 4800 (due to wxgtk demanding webkitgtk .. for help files ). So having something lighter is a plus for me. _______________________________________________

Checked into GIT, guicast bootstrap.c and Makefile as Andrew provided. Just to make sure nothing "sneaked" in, I checked the Makefile.diff and bootstrap.c.diff files and 0002-Add-sparc32-tested-and-sparc32-on-64-cases-to-guicas.patch and 0001-Unaligned-access-in-bootstrap.c.patch. I did a full build on Fedora 32 and Ubuntu 16 beforehand. However, right now there is "502 Bad Gateway" on looking at the git changes which I have reported.
