A recommendation for Cinelerra-GG
Ubuntubuzz.com offers Cinelerra-GG in combination with Natron https://www.ubuntubuzz.com/2022/01/install-cinelerra-and-natron-professional... It mentions the cinelerra-gg download page. By the way... isn't it time to remove from the download page of the site (https://www.cinelerra-gg.org/downloads/), the mentions and accesses to the now very outdated (more than two years of delay on development) CinGG packages? A new user in too much of a hurry to read everything would have a really unrepresentative experience of what CinGG is now... Pierre

Thanks for the link -- interesting to see what they have to say. I don't know about deleting the packages download instructions because I still would like to get create those again because the AppImage has some missing capabilities -- for example using vaapi/vdpau hardware acceleration and easy access to directory files for customization. There were automatic procedure to create these using XEN on just a single computer, but I have yet to figure out how to use it. Now, I have to boot 5 computers to create the 6 different AppImages so it gets a little touchy. On Mon, Jan 31, 2022 at 1:50 PM Pierre autourduglobe via Cin < [email protected]> wrote:

1. I need to look at why hw accell does not work in AppImage. 2. Can AppImages not be build inside VMs? 3. If you delete older packages, like Igor, I suggest to keep the latest one for each platform. MatN On Mon, 2022-01-31 at 16:07 -0700, Phyllis Smith via Cin wrote:

Yes, the more I thought about it, the more I agree. I will look into removing them soon.

My good Cinelerra-GG reference is still Cin_20201031. So I hope you don't delete that for other user want to use an old very good release. Sorry if I think so. IgorBeg PS: BUT if you have to delete them to free space on the server,... OKAY, my hands up.

What about just changing the "Packages" section to a link "Old Packages" on the main download page? Less confusing and self-explaining they are "old" and still available for those who want to use them. Terje J. H
Other things to keep in mind are: 1- Debian has updated binaries due to the Elive Linux maintainer. 2- Arch is updated using the user repository (AUR); there is also the appimage version: sudo yay -S cin-appimage sudo yay -S cinelerra-gg 3- FreeBSD is updated by a maintainer.

I didn't know. I wonder if it still works on 2 year old FreeBSD, if not, it's best to remove it altogether!

After reading everyone's opinion,I like the idea of changing it to "Old Packages" and I plan on doing that just as soon as I figure out how to ! I tried but so far have not found the WordPress page where I can change it. Also, in reading the FreeBsd link, it explicitly says it works on version 12.1 so at least that is clear. It does not work on 13.x per previous email from MatN.
