First I have no knowledge or experience with this topic myselfe, but 
point on some related stuff.
(The closest I tried and looked at several years ago, was Cygwin on Windows)

The above is not unlike the CLI installation in the Readme for Cin-GG. 
Additional, the appimage is "extracted",
something I noticed another person mentioned made his Appimage program 
faster on his Linux.
Possibly also AppImageLauncher works on the actual Linux distro on WSL2 ?
