First I have no knowledge or experience with this topic myselfe, but 
point on some related stuff.
(The closest I tried and looked at several years ago, was Cygwin on Windows)

Run Linux GUI apps on the Windows Subsystem for Linux (preview)

The above is not unlike the CLI installation in the Readme for Cin-GG. 
Additional, the appimage is "extracted",
something I noticed another person mentioned made his Appimage program 
faster on his Linux.
Possibly also AppImageLauncher works on the actual Linux distro on WSL2 ?

The base looks to be WSL2  - Windows Subsystem for Linux -
a compatibility layer for running Linux binary executables natively on 
Windows systems.

Then one or more of the several Linux distributions can be installed 
from Microsoft store:
