Uhmm! bd.m2ts was made at the first few patches, most likely he didn't
use them all.
I use git, but I don't know if it has all the patches installed.
Maybe I am missing the patch 0002-Fix-aspect-ratio-for-wide-BD-render.patch?

apply if I build from git?
