Just to add, right-click /tmp/newfilename.udf using Gnome File
manager>Property, it is recognized of Type: Binary file
(application/octet-stream)
At first there was no Program set to open this file type, but set it to
open with VLC and got sucessful playback of video and audio.

Tried the same with Mplayer, which just loaded its gui interface with no
playback. (there is no problem to playback hdv.m2t files directly).

So far, VLC looks to work most robust for my playback, and I continue
therefor with VLC

Next, I continue with a separate thread (as the current has become more
than long enough), trying to test burning images to a new type BD-RE/DL
50GB discs (first).
