Hi I've made some significant progress in getting the build going - and will have some patches to drop that solve some issues for builds using system libs and non x86 based archs. The current issue I'm stumbling on is that configure doesn't detect the systems liba52 and a52dec/a52.h header files as installed. Nested clip and proxy

I was reading the manual "CinelerraGG_manual.pdf" (created March 31 2019) and the manual "CinelerraGG_manual_WIP.pdf" (dated 20190826) by LaTex about Nested Clips. (really good job, guys. And I could print it on the paper in a A5 size) I noticed... - "CinelerraGG_manual.pdf", pg.116, Nested Clips - "CinelerraGG_manual_WIP.pdf", pg.122, Nested Clips The final sentence: "...compositions. They can not be proxied" By my tests/works, you CAN create proxies for Nested clips. Proxies are created in Cinelerra folder (where there is "cin" file) instead of the clip folder as usual (with Cin TAR version. With Package version I don't know). Before saving your project, pay attention to disable Proxy feature. You MUST SAVE your PROJECT with PROXY DISABLED otherwise you lose the link to the clips (more or less). Is it right that proxies are created in Cinelerra folder? Is there any reasons they are not created in the clip folder? Thanks. IgorBeg

Latex and Manual

@Olaf. Every month I write an email containing LaTeX and Manual in the title to continue the discussion and translation work with einhander. I installed the whole package, plus the Greek and Russian languages. Of course I also installed an editor, that is TexStudio. It would be nice if you could also contribute (in any way). "I also noticed that the lines in the TeX documents are all written without wrapping. When using Git and Diff, however, hard line breaks could be useful, short lines limited to less than 80 characters simplify the clarity." My knowledge of \LaTeX is very superficial and therefore I have not understood what you mean by wrapping the text. It would be nice if you could also contribute (in any way).

Since gg has not done a checkin for a few days, I thought I'd let you know what is being worked. He had started looking into making the Crop tool in the compositor do something useful. It will not be a replacement for the very useful Crop plugin, but will do different things. While in the middle of working on that, the Mantis BT issue #303 came up and that has led to much consternation as system builds for libraries besides just libvpx may be unknowingly impacted. It is going to take a lot more work to figure out a good fix for all. This problem for the different operating system distros is exactly why as stated in the manual "we recommend the single-user version when possible". Because he was already working on the crop tool, it is holding up any other possible checkins/work. IgorB: cropp.png was renamed from crop.png because there was a conflict with an already existing file crop.png which represented the icon symbol in the Compositor for the Crop tool. I am not sure about the question on the location and GG will have to look into that. Anyway, it seems to work there! Phyllis/GG

Imported sequences in Master Project and the Viewer

Full title: From the Viewer to the Timeline with the sequences imported in a Master Project. I write here because I think it is not a bug, but may be it is important to add it in the Manual. I would like to know yours opinion/possibility. Consider you have: - a subproject with more video and audio tracks, and on the tracks there are clips, autos, effects and keyframes. - a Master Project with clips, autos, effect and keyframes. 1) In the Master Project, import the subproject (sequence) with "Insertion strategy= Create new resources only". You can see the subproject (sequence) in Resources->Clips (and its full name is the absolute path). 2) Drag and Drop the sequence from Clips to the Viewer. 3) Set In and Out Point in the Viewer and, in the Timeline, move the cursor position at the end of the tracks (for this example). 4) Click on "Splice (v)" button in the Viewer. You can see the complete Sequence (autos, effects, keyframes) in the Timeline. 5) In the Timeline, move the cursor position at the end of the tracks again. 6) This time, click on "Overwrite (b)" button in the Viewer. You can see the Sequence in the Timeline, but without its autos, effects and keyframe. If in the Timeline there were some autos/effects/keyframe, before of the Overwrite operation from the Viewer, they will still be there. This behaviour occur also with "to Clip" feature, used from Timeline and following the steps from point#2. Note_1: Remember that if you want put the sequence correctly (with all its tracks) in the Master Project you must have the same, or more, number of tracks that there are in the original sequence (the original subproject). About Note_1, I don't know if it is possible to implement by code, but could cinelerra open a little window with an alert if the tracks in the Master Project are less than the tracks in the sequence? The alert could say something like: "The sequence/clip needs <V> more video track(s) and <A> more audio track(s) in the Timeline otherwise the sequence will be incomplete. Do you want to continue? <Yes> <No>". Where: <V>= number of video tracks to add <A>= number of audio tracks to add Thanks. IgorBeg

Hi, few days back I was with my low-end laptop Acer TravelMate B116-M on film camp where we helped children to took videos and then we cut them to final short films. I had weakest device on camp, but must say it worked quite well. I tested hw acceleration as it was announced here and it was quite stable - laptop has Intel CPU and GPU so I used vaapi and h264_vaapi profile to speed up rendering. I tried to encode from 5 Mbps to 20 Mbps and noticed the few first frames of this hw encoded videos was quite low quality then it was better but lot of movement was lower quality also. I had problems also with this method of work: - load assets for part of video - cut everything for this part on timeline - save project - repeat for each part Then I loaded all saved parts to project as resources - it loaded saved parts as clips and all assets to resources. Then I pasted clips on timeline of final video and made final cut. Then I saved final project. Closed Cinelerra then I was unable to reopen saved project - it only showed one of clips on timeline :-( So I decided to export only parts and concatenate exported videos. The method was this: - load part - create new batch job (use current EDL button) - set output path and codecs I then wanted to run jobs but it warned about mismatch of session/job so I must render separate :-( I rendered by jobs before without problems the same way. So I don't know what the problem was. I'm using git versions - I work on Gentoo and I'd be happy to have official ebuild for this. I made first steps for that: https://bugs.gentoo.org/691102 I think it would be better to build only production versions from git i.e. if somewhere was some info about what build is last production it could be somehow in ebuild to decide to build stable or latest git version. deim
