In the new unified manual, in the Setting chapter (Settings --> Preferences), there are missing or unclear entries (for me). Does anyone know them and how to use them? Insert a video without audio between two edits

When I have to insert a video without audio, between two edits in Timeline, the audio on the right side does not shift to the right even if the audio track is Armed. I think it would be useful if the audio was moved to the right for the length of the inserted video. Of course, if the audio track is DisArmed, it will not occur. Now, I use a little trick to re-align the video with the audio correctly after the new edit is inserted. I added a short screencast: https://streamable.com/6yxwc What do you think, please? Waveform generation using ffmpeg filters

Hello. I'm trying to generate a 440 Hz sound with the help of FFmpeg of ffmpeg -f lavfi -i "sine=frequency=440:duration=5" test.wav type, but the waveform is: https://www.datafilehost.com/d/ea27d7ec Does Cinelerra incorrectly process the generation, or do I need to change something in the settings? Proxy error (optimal settings)

Hi guys, I recorded a sports event this weekend and created very large files. To be able to edit the video files I have to create proxy files. I use FFmepg m2ts format. Most of the files are created, but for the video files with a frame rate of 120 FPS the proxy creation is aborted with the error message. check_frame_rate failed /home/sam/YI023601.proxy2-MP4.m2ts failed=1 canceled=0 int ProxyRender::create_needed_proxies(int): Error making proxy. What is wrong with this frame rate? I try to find an optimal balance between a small proxy file and still relatively good image quality. IgorB had found an optimal setting, but unfortunately I can't find the correspondence anymore, because my old e-mails were deleted due to lack of space. I thought his suggestion was used as default for proxy creation, but I get suggested as default MP4, which in my opinion is not necessarily optimal for proxy files. What am I doing wrong? Does anyone have a hint for me to also handle video files with 120 FPS and higher. Thanks in advance. Sam --

How to use the Background Rendering?

I'm not sure it's a bug. I can't do background rendering: I don't get the many still images it should produce. There isn't red bar on timeline. How to use this tool? There was an old post on the mailing list or an old ticket, but I can't find it. I haven't activated render farm, because I've never tried to use it.

Hard edge and blade cut

Still reading the new manual, it is not clear to me what are the "hard edges" that are created with the "blade cuts". How do they differ from normal edge edits? What are “hard edge marker toggle" and how are they used?

Some changes checked into GIT today

Fixes were checked into GIT today include the following: An ffmpeg segv was occurring with PAL100/75 bars when not RGB 8-bit; fix that was added is a patch to ffmpeg to not crash. YUV (Settings->Format) is still not usable for this and perhaps some other ffmpeg filters. Ugin found this and provided a good dump. Shuttle driver (not USB_DIRECT) for the new Linux kernel 5.x was broken, but now fixed. Most distros will not have upgraded to 5.0 of the kernel until that distro releases a new version. So only because GG upgraded his Fedora development system to that kernel, that is why he discovered this. When using ffmpeg to render, a select file name to render to was not working if there was not at least one period or one slash. That is if you use a file name of just "demo" it crashed. You would have had to use a file name of "demo." or "/tmp/demo". Amazingly, it has been like this for years and was not noticed. Ugin discovered this. A fix was added so that the camera and projector in the Compositor are less jittery + MantisBT issue #185. Fix was added for MantisBT timeline bug and missing audio waveform - MantisBT issue #189 & 190. I read first about LibreOffice as AppImage portable application Linux format. Yeas, we already happy to have Cinelerra-GG in many stable distributions native package formats, but just wonder if a Cinelerra AppImange portable format would be beneficial for portable and generic testing, use or demonstrations on other/generic (rolling) releases? Background and references: AppImage is a portable application format for Linux that allows users to run applications on rolling (e.g. Arch, openSUSE Tumbleweed) and stable (e.g. Ubuntu LTS, CentOS) Linux distributions very easily, without the need for installation or worry of dependencies. AppImages bundle all the files needed for an application to run (e.g. libraries, translations, icons, fonts) that may not already be present on a user's system. LibreOffice AppImage is a portable version of LibreOffice for Linux that can be run from any location (e.g. local drive, USB, CD, network share) on all popular Linux distributions, including their live CDs.
