Remove linux-firmware from debian/control file, does not exist in Deb 13

I think we build mostly from qemu VMs where this file not needed, and open code builds even without X server actually using dri . Another use of linux-firmware is wifi firmware, but if you get network up enough for getting cin from net (or build on isolated machine) - it also not needed.

in addition to packages installed by blds/bld_prepare.sh I installed apt install git apt install mc rsync just convenience for me ===== apt install lv2-dev apt install libsratom-dev apt install libsuil-dev apt install liblilv-dev === ffmpeg 6, 7 or 8 should do === apt install libavcodec-dev apt install libavformat-dev apt install libavfilter-dev ====== apt install liba52-dev apt install libtwolame-dev apt install libdv-dev apt install libmp3lame-dev apt install libavc1394-dev apt install libiec61883-dev May be we should add them to new script ? (shared builds were not a thing back in the day ..) Otherwise it now builds with --with-single-user --without-thirdparty --without-libdpx but on 2-way SMP virtual machine (qemu 9.0.something), with 2 Gb of ram. May be more cores and more ram expose some race condition in thirdparty build ?

Debian 13 and bld_prepare.sh

Installed Debian 13.2.0 amd64 on qemu. Now trying to see bugs reported by users our script blds/bld_prepare.sh might need some additions debian-13 is vasically same as debian just wothout 2to3 package (it was python thing). I am not sure how to best handle this: make new case for debian-13 or just delete 2to3 from debian section (I think our python script in guicast was python3 ready for some years)?

errors encountered when building using thirdparty/ libraries

FYI: gcc-14 sees the bitshift of a negative value as an error. However, when using my Debian supplied or custom compiled ffmpeg command line transcode there is a 3:1 to 5:1 performance rate increase in nvenc. I think nvenc needs to be FAST so it can serve as the a default intermediate high-bitrate render format in projects. -Rob

It builds locally on gcc 11.2.0 i586 ... Reason why it was unnoticed probably because audiofile build disabled by default and probably only needed for in-tree esound build ...

duplicate code in cinelerra that also exists in support libraries

Please help me to understand why. This is my make-config and I'm building from scratch on Debian-13(trixie). I've re-run autoconf and aclocal to support the newer macros/features. Also note that I'm leveraging the distro libraries over the in-source thirdparty ones. I have sucessfully built this way several years ago. ----------------------------------------------- #! /bin/bash CUDA_PATH=/usr \ ./configure \ --prefix=/sharebin/cingg2511 \ --with-cuda \ --with-nv \ --with-gl \ --with-xv \ --with-jobs=8 \ --with-alsa \ --enable-audiofile \ --with-thirdparty=no ----------------------------------------------- build fails due to function redeclaration of int GifQuantizeBuffer(unsigned int Width, unsigned int Height, int *ColorMapSize, GifByteType * RedInput, GifByteType * GreenInput, GifByteType * BlueInput, GifByteType * OutputBuffer, GifColorType * OutputColorMap); in filegif.h and filegif.C...but this method also exists in the thirdparty library giflib. The reason it fails is that in the library the pointers are const (as they should be) but in the duplicated code under cinelerra directory they are not...and simply adding const in the included code is not a fix, IMHO. Lets please evaluate why the library code was duplicated within the project source in the first place. giflib is not only available under the thirdparty directory, but is a common library on most linux distros. It seems odd that it's both referenced from the library AND duplicated in-source. So far the only dependency I've had to use from the thirdparty directory is libdpx since it is quite obscure and not a standard part of Debian. -Rob
