EXPERIMENTAL: blu-ray lpcm profile + gui
by Andrew Randrianasulu 21 Dec '21

21 Dec '21

well, me and gui not quite get along... (see new layout of 'create bd' window..) but... it seems to work? you can choose profile (out of two) and it will appear in rendering window..

tsmuxer gui
by Andrew Randrianasulu 21 Dec '21

21 Dec '21

Attempt at utilizing tsmuxer depending on checkbox in BD creation window. (tsmuxer should avoid whole loop mounting/unmounting root requrement.. and support more features like HEVC muxing, arbitrary delay/chapters..)

14 Plugin GUIs improved
by Phyllis Smith 21 Dec '21

21 Dec '21

Today's checkin includes 14 plugins with improved GUIs to add Tumbler Boxes with current value now visible and ability to type in a specific desired value. Modified plugins are: - alpha + Reset button was added - brightness - huesaturation - linearBlur - polar - radialblur - rgbshift - sharpen - unsharp + hard to use Dial switched to the more consistent slider bar - wave - whirl - yuv - yuvshift - zoomblur Thanks to the Anonymous Contributor for this useful, more consistent, and desirable presentation for these plugins. This was very tedious work.

Is SD and HD 422 Video Capture obtainable with V4L(2)?

With reference to Adam Wilt: https://www.adamwilt.com/DV-FAQ-editing.html#transcoding > I-frame-only MPEG-2 is said to be comparable to DV format compression > at the same bit rate. Indeed, if you're originating on DV50 (D-9, > DVCPRO50) there's no reason to go with anything other than a DV50 NLE, > using SDTI in place of 1394 for the transfer. The only way up from > DV50, practically speaking, is to to go totally uncompressed -- and > nowadays, that's increasingly viable, what with fast disks and > inexpensive arrays. ==================== As I already pointed on in another thread, a solution to capture Hi8 to SD DV50 in 4:2:2 format was possible already 10 years ago https://lists.cinelerra-gg.org/pipermail/cin/2021-December/004308.html In a more recent thread here, Andrew mentioned a hdmi capture card (with v4l2) https://www.mail-archive.com/cin@lists.cinelerra-gg.org/msg02865.html =================== Therefore I wonder if we, CinGG users and devs, are able to setup and test a recommended capture solution (w/card and guide) for SD and HD video in 4:2:2 colorspace, preferably using free drivers and tools like V4L/V4L2 and FFMpeg? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video4Linux https://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/V4L_capturing Terje J. Linux drivers for Kona LHe plus?
by Andrew Randrianasulu 19 Dec '21

19 Dec '21

Hello. I am currently poke code of Cinelerra-gg {0} (fork of Cinelerra-HV {1}). Our software (Linux-only, even if you can try to compile on Windows or FreeBSD) tries to be quite high-end NLE with support for 32-bit floating point data path. On your product page https://www.aja.com/products/kona-lhe-plus I see "Supporting macOS, Windows and Linux, KONA LHe Plus offers cost effective simple connectivity for a range of workflows." yet on your (?) driver page https://github.com/aja-video/ntv2-v4l2 I can't see this specific card listed. Does this mean current (hopefully v4l2) drivers for Linux non-public/proprietary? Please indicate if I can forward your reply to our public mail list (cc-ed), or should I paraphrase it. {0} - https://www.cinelerra-gg.org/ {1} - http://www.heroinewarrior.com/cinelerra.php

decklink/blackmagic licence?
by Andrew Randrianasulu 19 Dec '21

19 Dec '21

It seems there is some uncertanity about what users/distributors can do with sdk required for working with their hardware? https://patchwork.ffmpeg.org/project/ffmpeg/patch/201704010120.37843.cehoyo… https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=839941 {this is related to HD capture hw we discuss with Terje} Should someone explicitly mail blackmagic's support about this?
